Diane McGrath: Rani Haet, Bret Sewell and I co-hosted a Bay Area Summer Party at Bret’s home in Atherton on July 23rd. We had a great turnout, with people from the classes of 86, 89, 91, 92 and 96 attending.
Curtis Glovier: After nearly ten productive, profitable and enjoyable years at Fortress Investment Group in New York, I recently joined Opus Bank and its subsidiary, PENSCO Trust Company. My association with Opus began in 2010 when investment funds affiliated with Fortress backed entrepreneur Stephen Gordon in acquiring a small community bank called Bay Cities National Bank as a platform to acquire other institutions and grow organically. Opus has grown from a couple hundred million of assets to approximately $7.5 billion of assets today. PENSCO is its most recent acquisition.
As the Chairman and CEO of PENSCO, which is the leading custodian of alternative assets held in IRAs, I will work to grow the business by continuing to provide superior customer service to our retail clients while further developing our new institutional business, building upon our recent successes with Morgan Stanley and UBS. At Opus I will serve as Senior Executive Vice President, focused on a number of initiatives: using PENSCO as a platform for developing a Wealth Services business, expanding our Merchant Banking business and exploring new geographic opportunities for Opus as a whole. My new contact info is cglovier@opusfinancialpartners.com, Office: 609-375-2205 or Mobile: 609-955-6007.
I look forward to talking with you about our growth plans for Opus and PENSCO or just catching up in general. And if you want to put an alternative asset (an investment in a private equity fund, a company, real estate, etc.) into your IRA, contact PENSCO Client Services at 800-962-4238 or clients@pensco.com!
Casey Carpenter: It was great to see everyone at the Reunion. It has been very busy the past few months. I was a delegate for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia and was interviewed by international media including Rolling Stone. Now I am a candidate for Mountain View City Council. With our four grown children now in college and medical school, I have found another “diversion” to consume my passions, energy and extra time.
Bill Feingold: In the third year of my convertible boutique Hillside Advisors. Thrilled that Kathy Hay Stine WG’91 has joined as head of business development. My wife Jennifer Solomon WG’90 and daughters Abby (14) and Liz (12) are doing great.
Jill Wolk Strassburg: I have been volunteering since July for the congressional campaign of Josh Gottheimer (Penn ’94, Harvard Law school) the democratic challenger in the 5th district of NJ to Congressman Scott Garrett (a Tea Party Extremist) as a financial analyst. If you live in Bergen, Warren or Sussex county in NJ please look at his website josh4congress.com.
Beverly Anne Bradway: Using the personal experience of returning to work after a 19 year hiatus to partner with Jim Whifill, MD (Penn Med ’94) in building Opting Back In, a company designed to give women (and eventually men) the tools they need to enter today’s work force after a career pause. With the local interest and early momentum we’re looking forward to how this may scale!
Monica Richter: Just returned from Tanzania elated and exhausted. Best. Journey. Ever.
