Noreena Hertz: I was recently invited to speak at the TED Conference in London. You can replay my comments here. Since graduating from Wharton, I’ve also written two best selling books; The Silent Takover and IOU: The Debt Threat. I am currently the Duisenberg Professor of Globalization, Sustainability and Finance at Erasmus University and University of Cambridge.
Monica Richter: We are moving from the UK to the US, as I have already started in Standard & Poor’s Manhattan office. As my former boss moved to develop a sister company, I was fortunate to get promoted into his role. Transatlantic commuting is not for the long term, so once the kids finish up their school year in July, we are off. Currently searching for a home in Summitt, NJ (good schools, easy commute, close to extended family and airport) and selling our London house. All 4 of us are in good spirits but we will miss London. An amazing 14 years has flown by. Onwards to the next adventure!
Sauro Nicli: I left McKinsey & Company after 18 years in June 2009 and joined the AXA Group of Insurance Companies as their Chief Information Officer and a leader of their business transformation in Paris. My wife Marie-Christine, three daughters Solenne (13), Chiara (10) and Salome (7) and I relocated from Singapore back to our Geneva home. Then in January of this year, we finally moved into our new house near Lausanne (Switzerland) – we still live with boxes around us… I commute during the week to Paris for work and spend weekends in Lausanne. My wife is busy furnishing our home and keeping the household under control with so many things going on at the same time, my daughters are doing well in school and growing healthily, and I have a lot of fun and excitement driving the transformation of a great insurance company – so we are all pretty happy.
Lance Miller: Life is good here. I am officially “in transition” between a brief and perhaps ill-advised stint with an online marketing company, and wherever I land next! I am currently living in the Charlotte, NC area, and hope to stay here, but we will see what the opportunities bring. My four kids are doing great. Chelsea, our oldest, graduates from Purdue’s Krannert School of Business in May this year (the same weekend as the reunion — so I will miss all of you there). Some of you will remember that she was in the hospital for the first several months of our time at Wharton — but all has turned out great for her. Our son, Chance, is halfway through Northwestern, middle daughter, Faith, starting at USC in the fall, and Hope wrapping up her freshman year in high school.
Chris Malone: Had a terrific Spring Break vacation with my old Cohort F buddy, David Searns, in Costa Rica last month. We had a great time surfing, snorkeling and hanging out with family. Look forward to seeing David the rest of the Cohort F gang at Reunion!
Heather Potters: After spending 19 years managing private equity funds and doing deals in the Central and Eastern Europe and CIS region, I returned to the US (Colorado). Over time, I’ve transformed myself from fund manager and investor, to spending most of my time on one of my investments—PharmaJet, a needle-free injection technology focused on the vaccine industry, where I am Chairman, but spend considerable time on global business development. While I still have many deals in other places to look after, it’s great to be home, but also great to further build my direct entrepreneurial skills; and particularly on a technology that is making a significant contribution to the reduction of healthcare and disease eradication in so many different places in the world.
Coen Potters: After 19 years in Eastern Europe we decided to return to the US and are now in Colorado where Heather’s business (PharmaJet) is growing significantly. I left my job at Whirlpool where I was responsible for the business in Africa, Middle-East and Eastern European and am currently looking for a new challenge. In the meantime I work with a Polish company on business development in the region and await a US Green Card, which turned out to be a painful process……Our two boys (Earl-12 and Clint-11) made the temporary transition well. We obviously miss Poland, kept most of our stuff there and will be back again this summer.
Stowe & Richard Sprague: We are still enjoying our life in China, living with our three children in downtown Beijing. Richard works on Macintosh products for Microsoft. Stowe does marketing strategy for foreign and Chinese entrepreneurs, and serves on the management board of a small American theatre in Beijing.
Diane McGrath: Our San Francisco pre-reunion dinner on March 5th was great fun, with seven classmates in attendance. Look forward to seeing many more at the Reunion in Philadelphia!
